Two ladies from England contacted us via our website. They are Paediatric Occupational Therapists and offered to volunteer in Doves Wings. They discovered our website and liked what they read.
After quite a few emails they came with one of their daughters for two weeks and did a wonderful job. we rally value when a person becomes a volunteer. What’s even more amazing about this story is one special outcome.
Could we adopt a little boy? It would certainly not be a simple thing but we believed if it was meant to happen it would.
Carolyne needed a local adoption agency with connections in China and we needed to begin our part. There was a lot of frustration, learning, paperwork, translation and assessments to be done. At times everything seemed to have stalled.
But after these confusing and difficult steps, something wonderful happened. The news came that “Gotcha Day” looked like it would be a reality. Gotcha Day is the name given to the day when children meet their Forever Families.
Then the news became much more concrete and a date was set. Plans were made for Carolyne, her husband and two daughters to travel to China. It seemed like it was really happening!
After waiting a few more months for final arrangements to be made Alex joined his Forever Family. Everyone was so excited. What a fantastic day which everyone will celebrate forever. Another special child from Doves Wings had been adopted into a wonderful new family!

We have been home now for just over 8 weeks and Alex is settling in well. He is a delight (most of the time)!
Everywhere we go, people are amazed that Alex has only just come to this country and has been without his birth family.
He demonstrates such love and affection towards others and is always the first to spot if there is another child without a toy or needing help with something. This is so out of the ordinary for a child who has not had their own home, but we know that this is largely because of the love and care that you gave him before we had the privilege of becoming his family.
We cannot thank you enough for all you have done, and all the love you have shown him while he has been at Doves Wings.
One day we will bring him back to visit you all, as we would love him to meet all of you that have loved him so well while he waited for his forever family. We all send much love, and ask that you keep loving all the children in your care – you have such an important role to play in how their futures unravel.

The children in Doves Wings who have been adopted are in very special families. The day their news families arrive to collect the child is called Gotcha Day. We’re really thankful for each Forever Family. We love seeing photos of the children growing up and experiencing new things which they simply would not have done before. All of this from two ladies along with a daughter choosing to volunteer.
There are many other Good News stories we celebrate. Jothy lived in the children’s home in India for about 20 years and now she is doing very well in university. She’s doing her 2nd year Bachelor in Social Work and in her first year achieved a score of 80%.
But there is a reality issue. We need help to maintain the Good News stories. Our role is helping kids rewrite life stories and turnaround futures, eternal futures. Our passion is to see their whole life impacted. We can’t always serve through local churches because where some of our work is, the local church as we know it, doesn’t exist.
Helping kids re-write life stories and turn around futures
Safe water bores are currently being installed in 1 village per month.
That keeps between 1300 and 2000 children and family members safe.
We would love to do more.
